Also known as tumbara, or Sinaloan wind music, it is a genre of regional Mexican music and a type of ensemble in which wind instruments (mainly metals) and percussion are performed.

Band history

Emerging from the background as a Military Band, the Banda Sinaloense took shape with the foreign influences and social changes that converged in Sinaloa in the second half of the 19th century. The first Sinaloan band registered and established in a city was Banda Los Tacuichamona in 1888 , this band was formed by the Álvarez dynasty that shared the market with Banda Los Sirolas of the Castro dynasty also from Culiacán.
From the development of the first breathing instruments with pistons by Adolphe Sax to their arrival and marketing in Mexican lands, several decades passed to set the organological standard. The influences of Caribbean, German, Spanish and French music also played an important role in contributing to the integration of instruments such as: The güiro, the 'Latin' metallic timbales, congas and other European instruments that would pass from the orchestras to the Sinaloa band. completing its organological richness. Thus, many Sinaloense Bands existed until the recording of the first Banda Sinaloense material was achieved by Los Guamuchileños de Culiacán in 1952 and later by Banda El Recodo 1954.
